Most people worry that they won’t pick the right spill container, especially when it is for something serious, such as hazardous materials. There are a variety of options, making it tough to determine which one you need. However, it’s not as hard as you may think it is, especially when you take it in small steps.
Liquid Type
The first thing to consider is what liquid the container will be holding. EcoSpill offers three basic styles that include spill kits for fuels/oils, chemicals, and non-aggressive chemicals. Each one is designed to hold liquids of their nature, making them more suitable for the environment and your needs.
Volume
It can be difficult to determine your biggest possible spill or the worst-case scenario, but you must ensure that the containers you choose will hold the amount of liquid necessary. For example, if you hold a lot of liquid in drums, your biggest spill would be the size of the drum or about 205L. Each drum would require a container in case of leakage or spillage.
Location and Portability
You may also want to take into consideration the location of the spill area. Is it well-ventilated or is it highly prone to spills? If the factory or warehouse is not designed to hold the item and the spill containers together, you will need to ensure that you have a safe location that is easily accessible, so the spill containers are near enough to the area where they will be necessary.
Smaller kits work well when you have enough room to store them beside the area. Dollies can also be used to move the container to the spill. However, you’ll also find spill kits with wheels to be the best choice, especially if manoeuvrability is a necessity.
